The Groomsman’s Speech
The Groomsman’s Speech is not a common speech at a wedding, but can still be carried out. You as the Groomsman can speak after The Groom’s and Bride’s Speeches and before The Bestman’s Speech. You can speak before, during or after the meal, though the latter is preferable. Your speech is primarily about the Groom. For you, it could be your first time to speak or be heard in public, leading to concern, worry and anxiety for you as you think about what to say and how to say it. Yes, it can be a daunting period of time in your life as it is constantly on your mind. What should be a wonderful and exciting day for all concerned; for some it can be the opposite. Be aware of not upsetting people at the wedding, especially The Mother of the Bride and the Bride. Groomsmen like you, usually talk all about the Groom and hardly mention the Bride, so don’t make this mistake either. You may be expected to be funny, humorous and witty, putting a lot of pressure on yourself if you are naturally not. So, it is all about being authentic and adding humour, fun and wittiness through stories.
